As we begin this financial year, it is with some sadness that I write to let people know that one of our longstanding Trustees, Lois Nolasco, has retired from her role with Home-Start Royston, Buntingford & South Cambridgeshire.
Lois has been a valued member of our trustee board for around 15 years, providing expert support, guidance and leadership. HSRBSC has certainly seen some changes over this time, including mergers of schemes around us, huge differences in the way our charity is funded, and laterally the inevitable adoption of a more digital way of operating our scheme, delivering support to families.
Lois brought tenacity, determination and skill to her role at HSRBSC. As chairperson of the Funding and Development Group, she led the team through many changes to our fundraising strategy, responding positively to the challenges and helping us to develop a successful strategy that has enabled our scheme to move forward whilst continuing to support local families, even when statutory funding ceased.
Lois has been part of planning our big events, has taken on some significant personal fundraising challenges – not least swimming the length of the English Channel and together with her husband Rob, they have provided some delicious food in support of our charity.
We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Lois for everything she has given to HSRBSC. As Lois moves onto pastures new, we hope she knows that her determination and passion for keeping our scheme up to date, professional and providing a first-class service to our local community will live on. We will always keep in our minds those phrases, “you have to speculate to accumulate” and “if you don’t ask you don’t get,” and we will be forever grateful for the time, commitment and fun you have brought to many of us over the last 15 years.
We thanked Lois by presenting her with some beautiful flowers and garden vouchers to spend making her already beautiful garden even more splendid. With very best wishes for the future, enjoy your travels Lois, and don’t be a stranger!
