Support Families Your Way

At Home-Start Royston, Buntingford & South Cambridgeshire, we’re incredibly grateful for the support our community gives local families every year. Whether you’ve attended one of our events, donated, volunteered, shared our work, or simply followed our journey, you’ve helped ensure families facing challenging times don’t have to face them alone.

But like many charities, we’ve noticed something changing.

Over the past year, attendance at fundraising events has become less predictable. People’s lives are busier than ever, household budgets remain stretched, and there is increasing competition for everyone’s time and attention.

Importantly, this isn’t unique to Home-Start. Many charities are experiencing similar challenges as supporter habits continue to evolve.

Rather than seeing this as a setback, we’re seeing it as an opportunity to adapt. We’ve streamlined our events programme, focusing on a smaller number of events that can make an even bigger impact, while also creating other ways for people to support local families.

Because one thing hasn’t changed: local families still need support, and our community still cares.

Support Families Your Way!

We’ve created a dedicated campaign to bring together the different ways you can support Home-Start and help local families thrive.

Whether you choose to attend an event, become a regular donor, or simply learn more about our work, every action makes a difference.

The Good News? There Are More Ways Than Ever to Make a Difference

We know that not everyone wants to support a charity in the same way.

  • Some people love attending community events and bringing friends along.
  • Others prefer making a regular donation each month.
  • Some help by sharing our work and encouraging others to get involved.

Every one of these actions matters. That’s why we’re focusing on one simple message:

Every supporter can help in the way that suits them.

Option 1: Join Us at an Event

Our fundraising events are about much more than raising money. They bring our community together, raise awareness of the challenges local families face, and help ensure that Home-Start can continue offering vital support.

We’ve worked hard to create a varied programme of events, with something to suit different interests, from line dancing and literary lunches to a good old-fashioned quiz night, giving everyone a chance to get involved in a way they enjoy.

If you enjoy community events, we’d love to see you at one of our upcoming activities.

As we’ve streamlined our events programme, every event becomes even more important. By attending, booking early, bringing friends or family, and sharing our events through your own networks, you’ll be helping local families access the support they need.

Option 2: Become a Regular Donor

If events aren’t your thing, regular giving is one of the most powerful ways you can help. A monthly donation gives us something invaluable: confidence. Knowing that support will be there month after month helps us plan services, support more families, and respond when help is needed most.

Even a small monthly gift can have a lasting impact.

  • £5 a month could help provide refreshments and play materials at a Family Support Group, helping parents and children connect, play and build friendships.
  • £10 a month could help fund activities for a family attending one of our Family Support Groups, where parents receive support and children learn through play.
  • £20 a month could help provide essential support to a family facing challenging times, giving them access to the practical and emotional help they need to thrive.

Whatever amount feels right for you, regular giving helps create a stronger future for local families.

Why This Matters

Every day, Home-Start works alongside families who are facing some of life’s toughest challenges.

Parents can feel isolated, overwhelmed and unsure where to turn. With the right support, families can build confidence, strengthen relationships and create positive futures for their children. The need for that support remains as important as ever.

By adapting the way we fund our work, we’re making sure Home-Start can continue to be there for families when they need us most.

Be Part of the Difference

We’re sharing this update because we believe in being open and honest with our supporters. We’re not standing still and hoping things improve., rather we are taking positive steps to build a more sustainable future for our charity and the families we serve. And we’d love you to be part of that journey.

Whether you attend an event, become a regular donor, or help spread the word, your support makes a real difference. Together, we can ensure that local families continue to receive the support they need to thrive.
