Our popular series of lunchtime talks returns for 2021! With Jude Simpson at the helm, our literary lunches have covered a huge range of topics, from award winning artists to retired secret agents.
September’s Literary Lunch is with Christine Adams, who will be sharing her fascinating story “A Lifetime in the Building.”
What’s the book about?
May Savidge lived in a charming medieval house in Ware, Hertfordshire, until the 1970s when a new road and roundabout meant the house would be demolished.
May, determined to preserve her home, moved the entire house – brick by brick – to the seaside village of Wells-Next-The-Sea. Rebuilding the house became her life’s work, and when she sadly passed away her niece, Christine, took on the project and completed it.
Come and listen to Christine talking about this amazing story of determination in the face of great suffering, and get the chance to ask her about the story, the book, and her personal knowledge of “the house that moved.” It really is a fascinating story!
