Who We Support

Home-Start Royston, Buntingford & South Cambridgeshire can help you and your family.

Many parents need help, friendship, advice or support during the years when children are young. There is no rulebook for raising a family and sometimes it can seem overwhelming, particularly if your family is going through difficult times.

Whatever challenges your family is facing, we are there to support you when you need us the most – working alongside you so that your day-to-day family lives and your children’s future can be so much brighter.

Here are just a few examples of difficulties experienced by supported families:

  • Isolated in the community, with no family nearby and struggling to make friends
  • Suffering with post-natal illness but finding it hard to talk to anyone about it
  • Having a hard time coping with a child’s illness
  • Overwhelmed by the death of a loved one
  • Struggling with the emotional and physical demands of having twins, triplets or more
  • Struggling to cope with a disability or relationship problems
  • Tired, unhappy, exhausted

If you live in Royston or surrounding villages, in Buntingford or surrounding villages or within the SG8 postcode in South Cambridgeshire and have at least one child aged 9 and under, then we can help. We support many parents just like you, from all different walks of life:

Every family who needs help is eligible for support, regardless of their financial situation.

Our volunteers are parents themselves or have parenting experience – so they understand how hard parenting can be. They will visit you in your own home usually once a week. You and your volunteer decide what you will do together.

You could also come along to one of our Family Support Groups based in Royston and Buntingford where you will be able to make friends, share your experiences of parenting with other mums and dads and , find out about other services and organisations that may be able to offer your family support.

Family Group is also a wonderful opportunity for children to start to feel confident about interacting with other children and adults, whilst participating in fun activities.
