FAMILY SUPPORT VOLUNTEER

Our Family Support Volunteers help families facing challenges by sharing parenting experience and providing tailored support.

Home Visiting Volunteer

Support families in their homes, offering one-on-one assistance with parenting challenges and family life. Complete a 6-session preparation course covering the role of a volunteer, safeguarding, and school readiness.

Family Support Group Volunteer

Assist in facilitating group sessions, offering guidance, and creating a supportive environment for parents. Attend a one-day training session to learn about supporting group sessions and creating a welcoming environment.

Requirements

Relevant parenting experience is essential, though no formal qualifications are required. An enhanced DBS check is necessary, and Home-Start will cover the cost of this.

FUNDRAISING VOLUNTEER

Our Fundraising Volunteers are essential in raising vital funds to support our services. This role offers diverse opportunities to engage with the community and contribute to our fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Event Organisation: Plan and manage local fundraising events, helping to raise awareness and funds for Home-Start.
  • Event Participation: Attend events, represent Home-Start, engage with attendees, and help promote our mission.
  • Community Engagement: Reach out to individuals, schools, universities, shops, and businesses to secure sponsorships and donations.
  • Promotional Activities: Assist with promoting events via social media, posters, and flyers to maximise public support.
  • Team Support: Collaborate with staff and volunteers on fundraising campaigns, including special events and year-end appeals.

Skills & Personal Traits:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Outgoing, enthusiastic, and creative with fresh ideas.
  • Ability to build relationships with individuals, businesses, and organisations.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organisational skills.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and within a team.

Time Commitment:

Flexible, with opportunities for both short-term and long-term involvement.

TRUSTEE

Our Trustees oversee the core functions of our organisation, including finance, health and safety, and service delivery. This role is perfect for individuals with an interest in governance, strategy, and helping shape the future of our charity.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in board meetings and contribute to key decision-making processes.
  • Play an active role in developing and implementing the charity’s strategic plans.
  • Ensure the charity meets its legal and financial obligations and adheres to best practices.

Requirements:

We welcome Trustees with a range of skills and expertise to support the board in areas such as finance, legal matters, fundraising, and service development. No prior trustee experience is necessary as we offer a comprehensive induction programme.

Commitment:

  • Five board meetings per year (usually held in February, May, July, September, and November in the mornings).
  • One Annual General Meeting (usually in October, held in the evening).
  • At least one Trustees’ Away Day for team-building and strategic planning
  • Occasional flexible hours to support staff and other needs, when required.
