Celebrating a very special Love Your Home-Start day

On Love Your Home-Start day, everyone is encouraged to celebrate, raise awareness and donate to Home-Start, Royston, Buntingford & South Cambridgeshire. People volunteer their time or spread the word about the important work that Home-Start does within our community. The day is also a chance for families who have received support from Home-Start to share their stories and experiences.

Overall, Love Your Home-Start day is an opportunity for us to recognise and celebrate the vital role that Home-Start plays in helping families to thrive, even in the face of difficult circumstances.

Here’s how our 2023 ‘Anniversary Edition’ of Love Your Home-Start day went…

A community united in their love for Home-Start

It was an exciting day. The atmosphere was filled with happiness and enthusiasm, a sense of camaraderie and warmth that could only result from a community that was genuinely unified in its support of its local Home-Start.

Locals joined together to support a worthy cause on our Love Your Home-Start day, and their efforts were simply amazing.

Dress-down days were held at several neighbourhood schools to raise money and awareness. Additionally, donations were received for our Love Your Home-Start activity pack, which included a variety of entertaining, imaginative games, crafts, and cooking ideas.

And the story didn’t stop there. The Royston Repair Café donated the proceeds from their February session to our campaign in support of us. Johnson Matthey employees gave generously online, and Birch’s Coffee Shop in Royston held an afternoon tea raffle.

However, the true sense of community was evident when shoppers at Tesco Extra Royston gave generously to our collecting tins and showered the Home-Start bear with hugs.

We were able to raise an incredible £1,773 for our campaign thanks to everyone’s contributions on the day.

We are so proud of the way our local community came together with us to celebrate our Love Your Home-Start day. Residents, schools, businesses, employees, and Tesco customers all participated, demonstrating what can be accomplished when people come together with a common goal in mind.

The generous donations will help us to continue our mission to give parents and families the vital foundations of a stable and loving environment so that children can develop the skills and confidence needed for later in life. It was truly heart-warming to witness the power of love, compassion and togetherness in our community.
