Home-Start families enjoy a fun Christmas Party

On Friday 10th December 2021 we were thrilled to be able to host a Christmas party for the local families supported by Home-Start.

Having had to cancel our Christmas party in 2020 for the very first time, due to Covid restrictions, and after a very tough 18 months, this was an extra special time for us all to be able to come together and celebrate.

Altogether a total of 14 families with 19 children were able to attend. They enjoyed craft activities (making their stockings to hang on the fireplace ready for Father Christmas), individual bags of party food, a wonderful rhyme and singing time with Home-Start’s friend Linda Bance and lots of space for children to play together and parents to talk to one another.

The afternoon ended with a very special visitor and every child was able to go with their parents into a separate room next door, where Father Christmas (supplied by the Limitless Academy) sat by his fireplace ready to greet the children and wish them Happy Christmas. Each child received a Christmas present and the look of excitement and happiness on their little faces was a joy to behold.

For some children, this was the first time they had had a chance to see Father Christmas, and although some were a little daunted to start with were soon put at ease by our fantastic red-suited visitor.

A huge thank you to St Mary’s Church Braughing and The Masons, whom without their donations, all of this couldn’t have happened. We also want to thank the Limitless Academy for their support with Father Christmas and Linda Bance for providing singing, rhymes and actions for us all to join in with. Not forgetting our amazing Home-Start volunteers too – who helped to plan and came along to ensure the afternoon all went smoothly for everyone.

Feedback from the families that attended was really positive and here are a couple of the lovely comments we received:

Thank you for the lovely party today! It was wonderful! My son really enjoyed himself!

Wonderful day, thank you x

We love being able to hold events like this for the Home-Start families. It’s a great way for the families to meet with others and make new friends. Without the support of the local community though, events like this wouldn’t happen. If you would like to make a donation, please click on the button below.
