Local business supports Home-Start as their charity of the year

Jason Thompson (Store Manager) and Tracy Agget (Home-Start’s Fundraising Events Support Manager)

It is so heartwarming when a local business gets in touch with our scheme offering to partner with us and truly understands how support like this enables us to continue helping families. This is a wonderful indication of how much Home-Start means to the community.

So, you can imagine our delight when the Royston branch of The Original Factory Shop got in touch over the summer, to offer us the opportunity to be their charity of the year. We were even more thrilled when they gave us a call at the end of November to invite us to receive our first donation from them.

Fundraising Events Support Manager, Tracy, went along to the store to meet Manager, Jason Thompson, to accept the cheque. Money was raised through sales of carriers bags, on-site collecting tins and from their customer’s loyalty cards.

Jason said:

We’re really excited that we and our customers have helped to raise £266.98 for Home-Start, our chosen charity. What Home-Start do is invaluable for the local area and we’d like to think that this effort will go some small way to supporting their work in the community. A massive Thankyou to all our colleagues and customers!

Home-Start’s Scheme Manager, Sarah, said:

We would like to say a big thank you to the Royston branch of The Original Factory Shop for choosing us to be their charity of the year. The last 2 years have been very hard for everyone and we have seen a huge increase in families feeling isolated and struggling with mental health. Asking for help is not always easy, but the kind of gentle support that Home-Start provides can make a real difference in helping families feel confident, happy and get back on track.

This money will help us to continue reaching local families, offering kind, compassionate, practical support, at the right time and in the right place.

If you would like to support us via The Original Factory Shop, just pop into the Royston branch at Unit 1, Orchard Road. There are collecting tins for your spare change or you could sign up for a loyalty card (every purchase you make with your loyalty card includes a donation to Home-Start). Now that’s a good excuse for some shopping!

The Original Factory Shop has branches in local communities across the UK.
