Chocolate! There are so many words to describe this delectable treat… and we are super-excited to bring to you another At Home with Home-Start virtual event in collaboration with Hotel Chocolat*.
The history of Chocolate
Throughout human history, chocolate has held a special place. It was revered by the Mayan civilisation around 4000 years ago. They would harvest the seeds (beans) from the cocoa trees, dry and roast them, remove the shells and then grind into a paste. The paste would then be used with other ingredients, such as chilli peppers and cornmeal, to make a nutritious drink – their most common method for consuming chocolate.
Over the years and through different cultures, chocolate has also been used as a medicine, an aphrodisiac and even as currency, .
Even the name of the cacao plant, Theobroma cacao, means “food of the gods” so it’s got to be special right?!
Hotel Chocolat Tasting Experience
Throughout the month of September, we are offering you the chance to taste your way through a box of their finest chocolates.
On purchasing your tickets, you’ll receive “The Everything H-Box of Chocolates” which contains 14 of Hotel Chocolat’s iconic, top-selling chocolates.
You’ll also experience an hour with a Hotel Chocolat chocolatier, where you’ll learn about how their chocolate is made, what makes it so special and how best to experience the flavours in the tasting box.
