Claire is running the London Marathon

Our wonderful supporter Claire is running the London Marathon this year to raise money for our local Home-Start: This is her inspiring story:

“I am specifically supporting the Home-Start Royston, Buntingford & South Cambridgeshire branch of the charity for reasons close to my heart. Sadly, when my mum was 7 months pregnant with me, I lost my dad in a car accident. This has always been a huge loss to my whole family and me.

I am told my dad was a man with a big heart and a lively sense of fun who would be so very proud of everything my mum, my two brothers and I have achieved. Therefore, I have chosen to raise money for Home-Start because I know the importance of support and care when a family is faced with challenging times.

We were lucky enough to receive enormous amounts of love, care and kindness from friends, family and people unknown to us. This enabled us to get through the dark times and move forward in our lives.

Since retiring my mum has become a volunteer for the Home-Start Royston, Buntingford & South Cambridgeshire branch and relishes the opportunity to support families in the same way that we were supported.”
