We are after your talent ...

Home-Start Royston & South Cambridgeshire (HSRSC) is a local charity which quietly, and in confidence, helps families with young children and in personal crisis ‘get back on track’.  In so doing, we pro-actively prevent many problems from escalating to major burdens for them and for our community.  This early intervention can reduce immediate and future public costs to social services, the health service and, in some cases, educational services.

Thanks to the generosity of local people and organisations, coupled with the dedication and skills of our staff and volunteers, we have continued to provide this service, despite the reluctant withdrawal of statutory funding from Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire County Councils.

We are proud to have raised almost £90,000 in the last financial year and, recognising that there is no reduction in need, we have raised the target to £140,000 to enable us to extend our service to families in the Buntingford area.

This means that we require more Trustees and we are writing to ask you to consider assisting us.  The benefits to an organisation and/or individual are likely to include:

  • The chance to help make a huge difference to the lives of local people experiencing personal crisis
  • A personal development opportunity for an employee
  • A transitional activity for someone moving towards retirement
  • A demonstration of the organisation’s commitment to support the local community
  • A useful addition to a Corporate Responsibility statement
  • Helpful local publicity

We will be pleased to consider all applications and are particularly interested in people with knowledge and expertise in Finance, HR, Operational Management and Fundraising.  We have a thorough Trustee Recruitment procedure and will prepare a comprehensive bespoke Induction Programme for successful applicants.  Trustees are required to attend five evening Board meetings a year and to commit approximately ten hours a month in governing and supporting the work of our charity.

We very much hope you will pursue this worthwhile initiative and we should be happy to meet with you to discuss any further details.

Please contact me by phone if you would be willing to have an initial, informal chat.
