Thank you to Esse, Melbourn

We recently held a fashion party which was hosted at Esse Retail and Therapy, Melbourn. We were treated to a fashion show by the models, were able to browse the wonderful collection of clothes, try them on and make our purchases. We raised £763.44 from the sale of tickets, a raffle and Esse donated 10% of the sales taken on the night. So a very big thank you to Esse for the very enjoyable evening and their wonderful support of Home-Start.

We would also like to thank:

Royston Ladies Circle who donated £400 to Home-Start to help us continue to support local families within in our community.

Royston Methodist Church have sent us a donation of £245 which was raised through the proceeds from their Fair Trade coffee bar - we would like to say a big thank you to them for their continued support. We really appreciate it.

Royston Rounders club have kindly donated the money raised from their Rounders Tournament held on Sunday 15th June. This event was held on Therfield Heath, 6 teams took part in the tournament which was won by Litlington F C and WAGS.  Paul Skerry from Royston Rounders said "It was a really successful day and it was great to see so many people playing rounders on the Heath.  We wanted to support a local charity and we had heard of the good work done by Home-Start Royston & South Cambridgeshire in the local community".  The club can be contacted on roystonrounders@hotmail.co.uk

The £150 donated from this event will be used to support local families with young children.

Paul Skerry and Alison Carroll are shown presenting the cheque to Barbara from Home-Start.

the One Stop Shop, Meldreth for their continual support through the collecting tin that they have in their store. The customers of the shop are very kind and supportive of our work and we would like to thank Yvonne for co-ordinating this for us, we are very grateful for all their help.

Queens Road Store held a '£1 in a bucket' collection for our scheme recently and raised £120, we would like to thank them for their continued support and their customers as they also have a collecting tin in their shop which is emptied regularly - so they are very supportive of Home-Start and this is much appreciated.

We would like to say a HUGE thank you to Sarah Harrison who has been such a support to our Home-Start scheme by organising events such as a local pantomime and her Pulsatilas evenings to raise funds for us. It is very much appreciated.

Royston Ladies Circle recently donated £200 to Home-Start, we would like to thank them for this donation which will be used to help fund a volunteer to visit a local family, offering practical and emotional support.

Royston Methodist Church recently held a fundraising event called Tunes and Spoons. This was a very pleasant evening with lots of different types of music played and delicious deserts, which were all donated. Home-Start would like to thank the fundraising committee at the Church and Richard Elcock for organising such a great evening and £254 was donated to Home-Start.

Thank You to the employees of Johnson Matthey in Royston ensured a very happy Christmas to Home-Start families in Royston & South Cambridgeshire when they donated food hampers and presents for children.

29 hampers and 60 individually wrapped presents were donated.  Present tags such as ‘boy 5, girl 3 or baby’ were hung on the Christmas tree in reception at the Johnson Matthey offices in Royston.  Members of staff then bought presents, wrapped them and attached the tags.  These were added to the food from donated hampers and delivered to the families in time for Christmas by Home-Start volunteers and staff.

The families made a large thank you card and sent individual cards and texts to express their gratitude for the gifts.  One family wrote “Thank you Johnson Matthew for my son’s present he takes his police station everywhere with him, including to bed and the hamper was lovely.  Thank you again”.
