Christmas at Home-Start Royston & South Cambridgeshire

The employees of Johnson Matthey in Royston have once again acted as Father Christmas for families supported by Home-Start.

They donated hampers of luxury food and also beautifully wrapped presents for all of the children.  Tags with details of the children, age and gender, were hung on the Christmas tree in Johnson Matthey's reception area.  Staff then chose a tag and bought and wrapped a present to match the tag.

The families were thrilled to receive not only the little extras which make Christmas special but also the presents. Home-Start staff and volunteers then delivered the hampers and presents to the family's homes.

The generosity of the Johnson Matthey staff has made a real difference to many parents and children this Christmas.

Home-Start volunteers cooked Christmas dinner on 3rd December for the families that attend  Family Group. Everyone sat down together and enjoyed the wonderful traditional meal, the table looked very festive with the crackers and the decorations.

We would like to thank The Masons who donated £600 towards the cost of this Christmas meal and also towards the party food and presents from Santa at the family Christmas party, it was so generous of them and much appreciated by the families.

The Home-Start Christmas party for families was held at Royston Leisure Centre, the children had fun for an hour on the creepy crawlies equipment and the bouncy castle, enjoyed the lovely food and were so excited when Santa came with his sack of presents for them. We would like to thank the Royston Leisure Centre so much for offering us their venue again this year and being so supportive of Home-Start

Carol Singing - a carol singing session took place on Tuesday 22nd December at Royston Train Station, we would like to thank the staff at the Train Station,  Linda Bance and her singers - GuySing and all those from Home-Start who came along to sing or shake a bucket - you all helped to raise £200.
